Disney Magic Wand Test

I saw a short article in the August 2006 issue of 3D World about creating a Disney-like magic wand effect in Cinema 4D, so I figured I would try to create the effect in Blender just for fun.

This is the effect with uniform particle size.

And here is the same effect with randomly sized particles. I think I like this one better. :)

Stupid Mistake

Arrgh... I'm slowly starting to get some of the stuff I need to upgrade my computer, so today I placed an order on Newegg for a 250 GB Seagate Barracuda HD, Acronis True Image 11, and an external enclosure for the HD.(The stuff I need to back up my data.) I didn't realize until after placing the order that the enclosure was for a 2.5" laptop HD, not a 3.5" desktop HD. Doh! I managed to cancel the order, but now I have to wait 2-3 business days for Newegg to credit my account so I can order what I actually want. *sigh* Oh well...

My current setup:

Hello everyone out there in blogger land! Seeing as this is the first post in my blog, I guess I should introduce myself.

My name is Stephen Meli, and I'm a 19 year-old guy with an unhealthy Lord of the Rings obsession and a passion for learning 3D computer graphics using Blender 3D.
